Rumours that he is selling his 50 per cent share in Liverpool have been denied by Tom Hicks, who claims he has not received the rumored offer from Dubai International Capital.
Hicks took over the club with fellow co-owner George Gillett in March 2007, since then the two have tried to arrange a £350 million loan to repay funds involved with the takeover.
BBC Sports editor Mihir Bose told BBC Radio 5 Live that "Tom Hicks is right to say he hasn't rejected an offer from DIC because I am told they haven't made one yet ... However, I understand that DIC is prepared to pay about £400m for Liverpool."
However Mr Hicks has called told the BBC that the reports are "false" and that he remained "fully committed" to his role at Liverpool.
It is expected that Liverpool fans will protest against the club's owners when Aston Villa play at Anfield, disappointed with their sixth place in the League table.
