Ebbsfleet takeover goes to a vote

An internet-based fans consortium is almost certain to gain full control of Blue Square Premier side Ebbsfleet United, it has been reported.

MyFootballClub (MyFC), which has more than 27,000 paid-up members in over 70 countries, agreed a deal to acquire Ebbsfleet two months ago.

With due diligence on a £635,000 takeover completed yesterday (Wednesday), financial details of the transaction have been announced by MyFC and the move will be put to a vote.

Members now have until 12:00 GMT on January 23rd to register their vote, although the result looks to be a foregone conclusion - of the 600 votes cast so far, 97 per cent have been affirmative.

Although Ebbsfleet is currently losing between £26,000 and £28,000 a month, MyFC is confident that increased gates, merchandise sales, advertising, sponsorship and TV revenues will enable it to plug the financial deficit and break even when it assumes full control of the club.
