Manchester United executive David Gill believes it would be in the best interests of the game if clubs became more open about their financial dealings.
He made the suggestion after being forced to defend the fact that the Red Devils paid £2.1 million in agents' fees last year - up from £1.8 million in the 12 months to June 2006.
Gill said he was "not worried" by the figure and went on to question whether others should be withholding the details of their own payments to agents.
"We are not embarrassed by the figure and we do not see why other clubs should be either," he commented, according to ESPN.
"Part of the way of doing business and attracting players, not just in this country, is to use agents. It is the market we operate in. I think publication of these figures is a good thing - 19 other clubs do not."
As a privately-owned firm United are not obliged to publicise the figures, but are continuing a tradition which dates back to their time as a publicly limited company.
