Allison makes further Celtic investment

Celtic non-executive director Tom Allison has increased his stake in the club to 3.2 per cent.

The move comes soon after John Fisher, a US billionaire, upped his shareholding to 3.24 per cent in a £700,000 move.

Mr Allison, who had previously owned 1.7 per cent of the club, paid 64p for each of his 1.6 million new ordinary shares, which is slightly above market value.

Celtic is listed on the Alternative Investment Market and recorded a turnover of £75.24 million and a pre-tax profit of £15 million in the first six months of last year.

This is a significant improvement on the £4.22 million lost by the club over the same period in 2006.

Another Celtic director, John Keane, acquired nearly 1.5 million more shares in the club last November, although the single largest shareholder remains Irish billionaire Dermot Desmond.
